Form: Asana Alignment + Cueing

Sat August 14th 9:30am-5pm

In Person at Stretch Yoga Vancouver

Asana is a language of its own within the yoga practice. Alignment is the starting blueprint for the “what”, while cueing is the “how” – and both are integral for communicating a powerful experience on the mat and beyond.

This teachers’ education immersion is an opportunity to get into a new relationship with the body in practice and in effective, impactful, authentic communication as a teacher.

This small-group, interactive day will integrate practical exercises (including asana labs), discussion, and q&a.

Alignment

-          Approach asana from the inside out – what is the shape intended to embody?

-          Investigate experience over aesthetics – how do we create maximum impact for our students where they are?

-          Develop your “assessment eyes” – how to interpret, adapt, and communicate a shape

Cueing

-          Elevate your cue construction and delivery

-          Expand past ruts, habits and cueing “scripts”

-          Investigate what makes a cue effective or not, and gain new strategies for variety

-          Create more authenticity and clarity in your communication

Teachers registered with Yoga Alliance will receive a certificate for 8 hours of Continuing Education Credits.

Blossoming Lotus: History + Hip Openers

Sun May 2nd

8:30am-11:30am PST / 11:30-2:30 EST / 4:30-7:30pm GMT

No mud, no lotus.

-          Zen saying

Explore the deeper meaning underlying the lotus flower, including history, philosophy, art and spirituality!

The lotus flower is one of the most iconic symbols of the spiritual path, in yoga, and among many other Eastern traditions. It’s beauty as it unfolds is undeniable, but it takes it’s strength from the watery mud in which it grows – not unlike us, as we navigate our way through our lives towards our goals.

Discussion and self-reflection will open a new dialogue with the imagery, energy and metaphor of this flower and physical practice will focus on creating access in the hips, exploring extensive preparatory work to begin to put towards the idea of Padmasana, or Form of the Lotus.

Class will have multiple options to explore – all levels are welcome!

Leap of Faith: The Ramayana Virtual Workshop
